Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is one of the first private Universities in Uganda. Established in 1993, Uganda Martyrs University continue to be ranked as one of the best Universities in East Africa. UMU is a Catholic founded University but serves all people of all religions. It is known for its excellence in teaching, learning, research, advancement of knowledge and community engagement. Over the years UMU has been expanding by establishing study centres and campuses in order to bring services near to the people. For this reason, the Uganda Catholic Bishops who are the owners of UMU decided to establish a Campus at Fort Portal.
The Uganda Martyr’s University Fort Portal Campus (UMUFPC) situated in the heart of Fort Portal City Western Uganda is located at the two hills of Kinyamasika and Virika on the Fort Portal Kasese road. Established in 2014 the campus is one of Uganda Martyrs University’s 8th campuses that were intended to bring services near to the people.
The Fort Portal Campus houses the faculty of Engineering and applied sciences. It also host Bishop Magambo Councilor Training Institute, St. Joseph’s Technical Institute and other selected programs offered by the University faculties.
